Three became the first UK network to make expensive 0800 numbers free to call from mobiles. To shout about it, we created a range of fun 0800 numbers for people to call up and waste time on. Britain spent over 5,000 hours on the lines, receiving compliments, automated sympathy and personalised lullabies.
